2011 Jeep Compass

With the 2011 Compass starting to arrive at dealerships, Jeep has officially unveiled the facelifted model in Detroit. The entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 158 hp (117 kW) and 141 lb-ft (191 Nm) of torque, which enables it to return 23 mpg city / 29 mpg highway. On the other hand, the optional 2.4-liter churns out 172 hp (128 kW) and 165 lb-ft (223 Nm) of torque. Thanks to dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT), it also returns 23 mpg city / 29 mpg highway - despite being more powerful. Regardless of what engine is selected, both are connected to a five-speed manual or an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). While the original Compass was strictly a soft-roader, the facelifted version is available with a Freedom Drive II package which adds low-range gearing, an increased ride height, and Trail Rated badging. Of course if you don't need anything that hardcore, you can settle for Freedom Drive I or standard front-wheel drive.
